This week year 7 and 8 have been on camp with Andrew, Will and I. Here are some thoughts from one of our year 8 students:
Day 1 – On day one we travelled to camp, we arrived just before lunch. When we had been sorted into our cabins and had lunch we were sorted into our activity groups and we headed off to our first activity. Our instructor was a man named Phil, he would be our instructor for the rest of the week. Our first activity was sailing so we went down to the lake and he showed us how to sail and set up the boats then he let us go out on the water. We were out on the water for around three hours.
Day 2 – On day two we had archery, wombat hole and kayaking. First we had archery, we were split into two groups, first group would come and and have four shots, go collect their arrows, then the second group would come and do the same. Next we had wombat hole where we had to crawl in small underground tunnels that were pitch black. Finally we had kayaking where we had to go in two person kayaks and do certain things like running on other people’s kayaks without falling in, we also played kayak football and had to try and get the ball back into the dingy/boat.
Day 3 – On day three we had sailing and high ropes. For sailing we went across the bay and on the way back we had a race but there was no wind so most of us had to be towed back by Phil. After that we went to high ropes, Phil showed us how to put the harness on and all the other things that we had to know to be able to do high ropes.
Overall the camp was an awesome time and heaps of us enjoyed it!
