ITS welcomes Ivan Rusev as Assistant Coach.
My name is Ivan Rusev and I am the father of two wonderful children. I have coached tennis for my entire working life and I continue to have the same passion for tennis and coaching that I have always had.
I gained my advanced tennis coaching qualifications by the age of 21 and started my own tennis centre in Kenthurst at the age of 22. This business grew consistently for the ten years I was there, starting with two courts and no students and growing to over 120 hours of coaching per week on six courts. During this time I was also the Director of Tennis for the Hills Grammar School for eight years.
In 2006 I took on the role of Director of Tennis at Hyatt Regency Coolum (now Palmer Coolum Resort). This role involved managing their seven court complex, conducting lessons for guests, locals and corporate groups. The role also allowed me to organise and run clinics with Todd Woodbrige and Nicole Bradke. I introduced tennis tournaments to the resort and was fortunate enough to be nominated Most Outstanding Tournament in Queensland twice. With the introduction of the Brisbane International, the resort became the training ground for professional players such as Daniela Hantuchova and Jarmilla Gajdosova. Through their training period I was able to organise exhibition matches and also assist as a hitting partner to the world’s top ten doubles professionals.
I’m looking forward to my coaching role with ITS. The opportunity to work on a daily basis with Greg and the students who have such a passion is great. To watch the students improve all facets of their game throughout the year is something I look forward to.
