So last blog I started to talk about project based learning and it’s crucial components, the 4c’s. I hear some of you saying, “Oh yes, I briefly remember you saying something about that.” So here is the test. What does the first ‘c’ stand for? I know you know it, come on, dig deep and think. (I can see you in your thinking pose right now). OK, so a quick recap, the 4c’s of PBL are communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking.
The first step that we take for any project we embark on is the entry event. In PBL, project kick-off is an exciting day – and for good reason. This is when PBL shccsc from planning to active learning – the moment when students enter the picture. By planning entry events that fire up their curiosity, we engage students’ sense of inquiry right from the start.
This week we have started our project, ‘Am I a Braque or a Picasso?’. Our entry event saw us walk through an art gallery set up in the classroom displaying pictures of painting by Braque and Picasso. The students had to look very carefully and decide whether each was a Braque or a Picasso.

Showing them the greats of the artistic world. I love it.
Thanks Shane, really enjoy seeing the children actively engaged in their activities
I love seeing what they’re up to throughout the day…and it makes it so much easier to engage them in a conversation about their day when they get home! Thanks!
What a fantastic art gallery and a fun way of learning about important artist!
