Since completing our first year last December, IFS has nearly doubled in size in every way – students, parents, coaches, teachers, even buildings – isn’t it amazing!
One wonderful addition to our college is the introduction of stage 2, years 3 and 4. Since the beginning of the term I have been assisting Todd van Epen with this class. Seven and eight year-old children have very specific needs and quite different to those of thirteen and fourteen year-olds, the students with whom I was mostly working last year.
I’ve heard it said that each of us arrives as an empty canvas upon which our individual life story is to be written, and whilst on one level there may be some truth in this remark, I am always intrigued by the differences in personality that can be observed even at a very early age. It is such a gift to observe these young children in our stage 2 class; their passion for football and learning, their positive responses to the challenges being brought to them, the connection that they’ve already made with their enthusiastic teacher Todd, their wonderful individualities that are coming through. How exciting it is to have this age group now within our college! Playing it forward, I can see this as an amazing year 11/12 group in 2022.
Welcome stage 2 children and a big thank you to your mums and dads for bringing you to IFS.
Greetings,
Rodney
