Firstly, welcome to all the new students and parents who have joined our college to embark on the journey we began last year. Just one year ago I had eleven new students, looking very nervous and excited at the same time. I must say, I was also a little nervous. Fast forward one year and I find myself looking at a class with 44 faces staring back at me. That’s a growth of 400% which is staggering in any industry.
I would also like to welcome the wonderful and experienced Karen Gray with whom I will be team teaching this year. I’ve got to know her reasonably well over the last few weeks and I can tell this year is going to be amazing. We have some brilliant projects planned which I am sure the children are going to get a lot out of.
This brings me to PBL (project based learning) – the core of our learning at this college. Gaining a good understanding of PBL often answers a lot of questions, so over the next few weeks my blogs will go into more detail as to what PBL is and how it benefits our students.
So, first lesson in PBL, and your children learned this yesterday, is the 4 c’s – Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity and Communication. More about this in my next blog.
