October seems to be a good month for me. It was during this month in 2006 that I took time off from my Bachelor of Coaching Science degree to travel to the Czech Republic to begin a work placement as Assistant Coach with FC Viktoria Plzen in the Czech National Youth League.
Fast forward to the same month in 2013 and I begin a new chapter in my coaching career at IFS. Along the way there have been stops at FK Pribram in the Czech National Youth League, achieving my UEFA B License, getting accepted into the UEFA A License and winning the W-League with Canberra United which led to me meeting the legendary Julie Dolan.
It is with great pleasure and satisfaction that I begin the next step of my journey.
Three pillars that I try to stick by, that the players in my squad will know very well, have helped me along my journey. Hard work, discipline and respect. These three pillars can help anyone achieve their goals. The progress I have seen in my team in the five weeks I have been here is testament to the players’ application of these fundamental principles.
I look forward to meeting the college community throughout this term and into next year. I’d like to thank Paul Chapman for giving me this fantastic opportunity and all the staff at IFS for making me feel welcome.
With footballing regards,
Nik Damjanovski
