The dictionary definition of the word excuse is:
“To explain or justify a fault in the hope of being forgiven or understood.”
Looking at this, the word that jumps out at me is HOPE. Some people fail on a daily basis and then immediately make an excuse in the HOPE that society will understand why they underachieved.
I am currently working full time and renovating my first home in the evenings. Having recently completed laying the new floor and finishing the painting, a neighbour asked why I always have so much energy and why am I always working on a new project? “I’m making every day count,” I said.
Their instant response was, “You can’t make every single day count, you’re going to burn out.” I did not continue with the conversation as I knew this person was too bound by the limitations they had set themselves for me to change their opinion.
I know this person relatively well, they constantly complain about being overweight but never commit to trying to lose it, they have promised to quit smoking but still smoke a pack a week, they have started an online training course and only managed a handful of exams in the past two years, and they are so confident in their failure that they are willing to prescribe it as an inevitability.
Ask yourself what is your excuse not to make everyday count?
The reason you are not pushing yourself and using each day to get ahead?
In my opinion there are NO reasons to quit…just EXCUSES!
As a qualified PT I see a lot of people who say they do not have the time to exercise or that eating healthily costs too much. These are excuses where people are blinded by their own laziness and blinkered by their own decisions. Many people simply give up on their goals at the first sign of difficulty and then rely on EXCUSES to justify why they failed.
If we simply let go of the excuses, we have the ability to be the best person we can be. To do this, we have to continually find ways to improve ourselves and our situation. Do not allow yourself to be limited by your own thoughts and those of people around you. Cut out the loser mentality and cut out the losers.
Intrinsic growth is not found without investment, no investment comes without a cost, you have to put your time, focus, money and energy in to achieve things in life. No investment comes without risk, you have to take the gamble to go from where you are to where you want to be.
So please do not be that person we all know who is forever trying to achieve something and quitting half way through. If you want something to change in your life then work hard, commit to it and GET IT DONE……NO EXCUSES!!!
