I’ve recently been at a coaching course where I was fortunate to be instructed by one of my favourite coaches/instructors, Oscar Gonzalez. His teaching style may not be for everyone but it certainly makes you think. He takes people out of their comfort zones, shakes them around and up and down and around again, then moves onto the next guy.
It made me realise that over time, a lot of us gather a set of constricting habits that trap us in a zone of supposed comfort. Maybe this is well below our potential however, such habits slip below the level of our consciousness and we may not realise they determine what we think we can and can’t do—and sometimes, what we can’t even bring ourselves to try.
The group was shown the following video that I believe emphasises this, and whilst I don’t think the religious caption at the end is necessary, it serves as a powerful message that when we think we are giving our own personal challenges EVERYTHING we’ve got, perhaps we could dig a little deeper and achieve even greater feats.

Kim says
Seeing the joy on his sons face is the ‘purpose’ behind his courage and strength.
Without “purpose”, there is no desire to try.
Without ‘love’ there is no point – love of the sport, or for a person.
Thanks Julie. Great post!
