This term has flown by! As my first experience as a real teacher I have learned just as many lesson as my students. Years 9 and 10 have completed some very impressive English and history projects which I will have the pleasure of marking over the holidays. Years 7 and 8 learned about China and the importance of studying our neighbouring countries.
I had the joy of taking students on camp last week and as many of you have seen on Facebook, years 5, 6, 7 and 8 had a great time away. It was a completely new experience for me to be on the teacher side of a camp, supervising students until late into the night. We all got to enjoy some great activities including a high ropes course, BMX biking, sailing and archery. Many students found themselves outside their comfort zones and needing to conquer their fears.
Next term years 9 and 10 will undertake work experience and begin preparing for year 11. I have discovered that a teacher’s job is never done, as we are now all in the process of creating amazing projects for next term which I’m sure the students will enjoy.
I am blessed to work at such an amazing, innovative college and look forward to another term at IFS!
