I’ve really been enjoying the food Ash has been serving in the cafe’ and from what I gather, the students have been as well. I was chatting about this with some IFS parents recently, discussing the benefits of fresh, locally sourced produce and during the conversation I was reminded of a frightening article I once read that I have included below. It made me realise the importance of educating our students to enable them to make informed food choices.
Just Can it
“U.S. inventors have dreamt up the ultimate in lunchtime convenience food for busy consumers – a sandwich in a can.
The aptly named Candwich comes in three flavours – peanut butter and strawberry jam, peanut butter and grape jam and barbecue chicken – and is being sold in vending machines across Utah.
Marketed at people on the go including students, construction workers and ‘soccer moms’, the canned sandwiches do not require refrigeration and have a long shelf life.”

I’m not sure what most people think about this product but I tend to agree with one of the comments in response to this post:
Where is our canned laughter?
