The only time I have ever blogged before was on a 10 day tour to China with a group of 30 budding teenage footballers. The photos and trip info was all sent back to the Mariners website and while the feedback from the readers was all positive, my $900 international roaming bill was not received by the club quite so well. With that not being an issue at IFS, I feel free to blog again.
My first two weeks at IFS have been refreshing to say the least. I would like to thank not only Paul and Julie and the entire football department, but the admin staff and teachers as well. With all the competitive little jibes between the coaches and the teachers, I feel I am going to fit right in. Reminds me a little of the days playing under Lawrie when our training teams would quite often be divided into Catholics v Protestants. Not sure what team Andre and Brad were playing for back then but Go the Cathos!
For those who are not aware, my involvement here at IFS will include the following:
1. Coaching at the college – I’m currently working with Brad with years 7 and 8
2. Continuing to deliver the MarinersACTIVE colleges program to the 75 other primary colleges on the Central Coast
3. Ensuring the Mariners and IFS are working closely on football development (through work such as www.marinersdevelopment.com.au) with the objective of growing the game of football throughout the entire Central Coast. In regards to Mariners Development, it has been great to see the first week up and running so smoothly and with over 150 participants signed up to two locations on the Central Coast, I feel it’s been an extremely positive start. Look out for more locations in term 4 and throughout next year.
4. Connecting with Mariners players and an A-league match day experience for the college.
In Mariners news, the boys are back to pre-season work via Arnie, Mossy, JC and Clarky. As a special note, congrats to Clarky on his recent induction into the Central Coast Football Hall of Fame – well deserved. With still a couple of months until kick off, Clarky has had the team doing plenty of cross training to keep both the mind and the body in the best possible shape. Apart from Arnie’s intense training sessions at Tuggerah, the players have been doing a couple of yoga sessions each week, boxing with Troy Waters, beach sessions at Terrigal and even a Mariners tennis tournament where Matty Simon and Zac Anderson met Clarky and Rik Katte (Team Manager) in the final. The players won the final so I’m really hoping it doesn’t come back to bite them through more shuttle runs from Clarky and possibly some deep heat in the shorts from Rik. I’ve copped this one before.
Anyway, that’s it from me. I look forward to contributing to the IFS team and even more importantly, growing the game of football on the Coast.
Cheers,
Browny

Congratulations on the hall of fame induction. Well deserved. Have had my two sons at soccer 5 IFS clinics this year. Got them in the futsal this term, all good, but was sorry to see the soccer 5 venue excluded this term. Thought it was an excellent venue. Good luck at IFS. My son will be there next year 7. Melvo’s are going to take over the world

Congratulations Browny on YOUR induction to The Hall of Fame. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving and terrific bloke.
