Most coaches around the world consider video analysis one of the best training tools, simply because it offers greater understanding than verbal instructions/explanations. Having now dealt with many of the refinements and challenges of our football program, it’s time to get our video analysis underway.
A common discussion topic amongst all the IFS coaches is how video comparison of exercises or training would, at times, be of greater benefit to the students than verbal cues. If the individual is able to see themselves performing the action and compare it to a demonstration of the action performed correctly in a split screen, he or she is much more likely to understand what adjustments need to be made.
The example below is not the greatest but does demonstrate what I’ve explained.

I have been helping Matthew O’Neill this week with the recording of fitness and agility testing and this will be the first area in which we start utilising video analysis for student feedback. Other areas in which video analysis will be beneficial includes injury prevention, performance improvements and decision making.
