What a great time for a blog. The night after another significant moment in our game’s history in this country. Qualifying for our third consecutive men’s World Cup, I was screaming when Josh Kennedy headed home that all-important goal and again was jumping up and down when the whistle blew and we secured the result and joined the sing-a-long,”when my baby, when my baby smiles at me…”
Only a few days earlier I was cringing at my beloved Matildas in their performance against New Zealand. I feel for new coach De Reus as she begins a new era in women’s football. The challenge of the change for the players was evident and the lack of execution in possession was painful to watch. It ripped my heart out.
This morning, we had a great time at our indoor session for IFS. The boys played a four team round robin with a grand final. Each game had me on my feet, cheering at the skills, roaring with each goal, feeling the emotion that this game brings like no other.
Yes, I love this game.
