It’s been a bit of a mixed bag for many of us at IFS this week. We had some sad news with our cook, Matt, deciding to move on, requiring some rapid changes in our cafe. We look forward to interviewing prospective chefs next week and we’re confident the right person will come along shortly.
I have had cause, during the week, to reflect on how people respond to challenges and why certain challenges seem to come up for us time and time again. I have come to the conclusion that communication is the key. It is so important that we set very clear expectations about what we both need when working together – be it a student-teacher relationship, work colleagues or just friends or family. Much confusion and heartache could be avoided if we just spent a little more time ensuring that we understand one another and fully understand exactly what we expect from one another.
Towards the end of the week I had the pleasure of driving a number of our teams to Gateshead to participate in the Northern NSW Futsal Schools Regional Tournament. It was a great three days and I was consistently proud of the IFS students. As I often remind our coaches, it’s days like these that make all the hard work worthwhile. For our students, these moments can be life-changing, as memories are formed they will carry for the rest of their lives. A number of our teams made it through to the next stage (Champion of Champions) to be held at Broadmeadow in just over a weeks time. Well done and good luck!!
