After weeks of planning and fundraising, we can finally begin our technology project. Students have received the brief and started developing their ideas. Those in years 7 and 8 have been placed in garden working teams for the project which will essentially run until the end of term 3.
I am looking forward to getting out into the garden and doing some hands-on ‘hard yakka’. It will be a welcome change from the OLS and a great experience for the students to work within the community.
In preparation, students will visit the Australian Walkabout Park next week and take part in two ranger-led workshops to assist in developing their understanding of native Australia flora and fauna.
I am confident our students, drawing on their knowledge and understanding of design and indigenous Australia, will produce a beautifully landscaped native garden for the visitors of Mt Penang Gardens to enjoy.
