Don’t you love new beginnings? I do!
Every day is in itself a ‘new start’ – whatever has happened a week, a day, a minute ago is now history – a snapshot in time, and once again we begin afresh.
We’re into week two of our second term at IFS with our daily rhythm now well established and running smoothly. The students who joined us on our journey at the beginning of this term all appear to have settled well into their new life at IFS.
In the high college we began the term with Australian History modules for stages 4 & 5, fabulously put together by Rebecca Parkhouse. I believe our students gained new and valuable insights into the history of our country through these modules, and in particular regarding the situation and issues arising from living in a multicultural country. This week Sally Bennellick launched exciting new modules studying aspects of Australian Geography for both stages 4 & 5. I find it exciting loading these wonderful modules onto the students’ ipads and then watching as they read through the tasks and supporting material. Some students immediately find a quiet place to sit and begin, while others prefer the company of a group, which generally means they take a little longer to commence the tasks. Nevertheless, once they have grasped what’s required, they’re engaged and before you know it, the day is over – ‘history’, and tomorrow is another new day.
Regards,
Rodney
