What’s New at School
IFS is still so young, yet there are already many things that are ‘new and improved’ in Term 2. Here’s 3 of my favourites:
An excellent addition to the coaching team, Andrew Ollier joins us in the Game Training sessions. Not only will the player’s benefit from his expertise and experience but we will be able to split the growing group and work more closely with each player. I am reluctant to let any of my players go! But we will still be working closely together and I know the boys are in great hands.
We’re training on the IFS main pitch this term which is great for the realistic game field dimensions needed for the Game Training Phase. Although the surface is quite testing for the players at the moment, we are grateful to have access to it and are looking forward to the potential of this great facility in the long term.
We’re continually looking at ways to educate the players on injury prevention and management and how to improve their physical efficiencies. Matt O’Neil has been a revelation in implementing best practice in this area. It’s been great to see the player’s mobility and stability slowly improve as we implement a warm up routine of dynamic exercises and ‘mini’ yoga in our warm down that will reap huge benefits over the long term.
