So term 2 has commenced after a refreshing break where batteries were charged and focus re-set. The pupils are motivated in the classroom and all seem eager to get stuck into project4. This term will have a 9 week project continually running that will incorporate maths, history, pdhpe, science, music and design and technology. Students have been given an outline to where we are heading this term and all are aware of deadlines and the amount of work required each week, this not only allows them to plan and submit their work but also take responsibility for organising their time effectively during teaching sessions.
The sessions this term are split so pupils concentration levels should remain high and we have introduced gymnastics on a Wednesday and Friday afternoon, this will help pupils core strength and balance so should have a bonus knock effect to their football.
We are also adopting a zero tolerance on “iPad inappropriate usage” during lesson time and would expect all parents to support our decisions on the consequences for playing games or ‘face booking’ etc during teaching and learning sessions.
Personally I had a great break and have returned with a bundle of new ideas and energy to ensure successful learning takes place on a daily basis, it was actually a really food feeling to walk into the college on Monday and see all the smiling faces of the staff and pupils in my now new adopted “IFS family.”
Students will be receiving feedback from last terms projects in an official format very shortly from me, this will be emailed to the pupils ifs email account so please feel free to ask your son or daughter to see this when it has been sent.
Finally I am always available to contact on gavin.thomas@ccsc.nsw.edu.au in regards to anything college related.
