As you are all probably aware by now, I double up my role as Central Coast Sports College coach with the role of Head Coach at Kanwal Rovers Football Club. I saw Sunday as a perfect opportunity to set up a game between a senior team from IFS against our 3rd grade side from Kanwal, a team made up of predominantly U/18 players with a few senior players thrown in.
It was a fantastic opportunity to test our players against a senior football side in a non-competitive environment. This proved to be the case. Andre Gumprecht and myself delivered a few key objectives prior to the match stemming from the topics we have covered in our football curriculum thus far. As is the case with all of our matches at IFS, we are focused on the ‘process’ rather than the ‘result’ which leads to a good developmental environment.
Despite the sweltering conditions on the day, our players applied themselves to the objectives and put in a fantastic performance, which the players can be proud of. Despite the age and size gap, our players weren’t overawed. This game was a great learning tool for IFS and we are all looking forward to the coming games, of which there are plenty.
