Sponge Week
Hi from sunny Canberra!
Yes I will try and bring it home for us. But be assured IFS is definitely being shone upon.
I am writing to you from the Australian Institute of Sport where the inner-sanctum of Australian Football has gathered for the National Technical Network Seminar.
60 or more FFA members including National Team coaches, State Technical Directors, coaching instructors and National Training Centre (NTC) coaches are committed to the lofty ambition of FFA to be ‘World Leaders in the World Game’.
This mission is being taken very seriously and a Fundamental Transformation is being urged through the ranks. I feel very proud to be here, not knowing quite how I was invited?! But how I came to be here doesn’t matter. What matters is that I’m here as a sponge. Not only for my personal development, but for what will be brought home to IFS to keep up to date with FFA directives and the latest updates of the National Curriculum.
And it’s not just a lot of paperwork and more textbooks. It’s a detailed and logically constructed philosophy and vision that is being brought to life.
It’s exciting times in our game. And perfect timing for IFS to make its mark.
What’s been encouraging is knowing that we are already on the right track and are continuing in the right direction towards developing great players within a strong football culture. Hold on people, this ride just keeps getting more thrilling every day.
P.S. Miss you guys!

Great Joey,
attracting and including this level of support and recognition can only help build on what you have all started.
I for one am extremely excited and will continue to be a very positive advocate for the cause.
Australian football now has a chance to become great.
My son is truly happy, engaged and motivated. The whole college and its attitude towards developing the whole person is a perfect fit for him.
Thank you Joey for your part in this, for your hard work and your passion. We need you and all the fellow coaches and teachers.
