It’s been a fantastic first 3 weeks at IFS. The football program is well underway and while the first week or so was an exciting experience fueled by adrenaline for our kids, that has now been replaced by the day to day routine.
Routine and discipline are two key components to any successful individual, be it football or the wider world. To turn up day in, day out and work with not 99% focus, but 100% focus is proving to be a steep learning curve for some of our players, however, one that will hold them in good stead, not only in their football careers, but in anything they wish to pursue in life.
It is the little things that count. Jogging for a drink, rather than walking, coming to training in full kit even when injured, remembering to pack indoor and outdoor football boots everyday and wiping down your teams table after lunch may seem like trivial tasks. However, it’s these fine details of discipline and routine that separate the successful from the unsuccessful, and the good from the great.
Great blog….. how true – its the little things that count. Thank you for being such a great coach.
And that’s just the football side of it – imagine how well disciplined these students are going to be when these “small things” become routine on and off the field throughout the balance of their collegeing.
True words of wisdom Brad.
