Did you know that your sporty child can keep training, stay on top of school, and graduate with a nationally recognised qualification?
At Central Coast Sports College (CCSC), we’re opening the door to real, practical pathways beyond the classroom through our outlearning pathways: externally delivered vocational courses designed to complement our education and sporting programs.
What are the outlearning pathways at CCSC?
CCSC has teamed with Foundation Education and the Australian Institute of Personal Training (AIPT) to deliver a suite of nationally recognised, online qualifications. These courses are designed to align with our students athletes’ sporting commitments, allowing your child to gain professional skills in health, fitness, education, business, or hospitality, all while continuing their training and studies at CCSC.
What courses are available?
Some of the vocational qualifications offered by Foundation Education include:
- Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance
- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Physio/Occupational Therapy)
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Nursing)
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting
- Certificate III in Business
- Certificate III in School-Based Education Support
- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education & Care
- Certificate III in Hospitality
Some of the vocational qualifications offered by AIPT include:
- Certificate III in Fitness
- Certificate III + IV in Fitness (combined personal trainer qualification)
- Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics & Recreation
Who at CCSC is eligible?
Outlearning pathways are open to all CCSC student athletes aged 15 and over. Whether your child is passionate about sport, fitness, or health, they can gain a qualification in their area of interest and prepare themselves for their future.
How are the courses delivered and what support is offered?
The delivery model is purpose-built for our student athletes.
Online, self-paced theory: Student athletes access course content 24/7, which means they can study around their training schedules, when and where they like.
Practical placement: Some courses, such as allied health, fitness, hospitality, and early childhood education, require workplace-based tasks under supervision. We will help your child secure work placement opportunities.
Learning support: CCSC and our partner training organisations support a range of learning styles. Student athletes can access individual support plans, coaching calls, and alternative-format learner guides.
Equipment needs: Student athletes will need a computer (Windows or Mac), internet, and software such as Microsoft Word or Adobe Reader. For practical assessments, they may need a mobile phone or camera to record tasks.
How long do the courses take?
Certificate III courses typically take up to 12 months to complete, while the combined Certificate III + IV in Fitness (AIPT) takes up to 18 months. Extensions are available if student athletes require more time, for example, if they are juggling sporting commitments.
How much do the courses cost?
Foundation Education and AIPT courses are designed to be affordable and practical, helping bridge the gap between education and industry to help student athletes be work-ready and gain employment straight out of college. Courses start from $1,990-$2,990. We offer flexible payment options: families can either pay in full up front or on a 12-month payment plan, with the choice to pay weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
Please visit the outlearning pathways page for a full list of course fees and payment schedules.
What are the career pathways?
Completing one of these vocational certificates can lead to more employment opportunities for your child when they finish college. Some of the potential career paths include:
Health & fitness: Graduates could work as allied health assistants, physiotherapy assistants, or group fitness instructors.
Education & childcare: Graduates could work as a teacher’s aide, a kindergarten assistant, or a childcare educator.
Business & hospitality: Graduates could work in hospitality, as an administration assistant or a receptionist.
Further study: These certificates also act as a pathway into further education, with some Certificate IIIs equivalent to an ATAR of ~67, and Certificate IVs around ~73.
The 6 benefits of outlearning pathways
CCSC has always offered an alternative to traditional education, empowering student athletes to pursue their passions and excel in all areas of their lives. Outlearning pathways is just one example of how we do that. Student athletes can benefit from:
Flexible study modes: These courses respect the demands of training and competition, giving student athletes a way to upskill without compromising their sport.
Early vocational experience: Your child can earn recognised qualifications before leaving the college, which gives them a head start, whether they continue working or study further.
Real-world readiness: With practical placements and hands-on learning, student athletes develop skills that are directly transferable to workplace environments.
Holistic education: CCSC’s educational model is about building well-rounded young people who are equipped for life. By providing professional development early, we’re shaping the next generation of leaders.
Empowerment & choice: Your child can choose a course that aligns with their interests, helping them to create a future that makes sense for them.
