Since our founding in 2013 as the International Football School (known as IFS), Central Coast Sports College (CCSC) has grown from a specialist football institution into the Central Coast region’s fastest-growing school. Through our evolution, our commitment to nurturing young people and delivering outstanding educational opportunities has remained strong, creating many success stories.
Our beginnings: International Football School
When our doors first opened in the beautiful Mt Penang Parklands in Kariong, we welcomed just 76 student athletes from Years 5 to 10. Our initial focus was on football, with Founder and Principal Paul Chapman and Australian football legend Julie Dolan leading the charge. In that successful foundational year, we began expanding our horizons, introducing a Tennis Program initially with just two student athletes enrolled. With the arrival of Greg Brownlow as Tennis Technical Director (now in the College’s leadership team) this program quickly grew, setting a strong foundation for future expansion.
Becoming Central Coast Sports College
Five years into our journey, it became clear that our identity needed to reflect the broader sporting opportunities we had made available to our student athletes. In 2018, we made the decision to change our name to Central Coast Sports College. The new name was representative of our comprehensive approach to sporting and academic excellence. The rebranding process began at the end of 2018 and was enthusiastically embraced by our entire college community, marking a significant milestone in our growth.
Expanding sports programs
In 2019, we increased our sport programs to include basketball, netball, rugby league, cricket, and dance, alongside our established football and tennis programs.
Since then, we’ve maintained strong ties with international sporting federations, providing our student athletes with unique opportunities, including playing in international tours, exchanges, and competitive competition experiences.
Continued success through sport and education
Over the years, CCSC student athletes have consistently excelled academically and athletically. Our unique combination of specialist coaching, personalised educational pathways, and comprehensive support systems has enabled student athletes to work towards their dreams.
Our alumni, known as CCSC Champions, have achieved incredible success since graduating, competing in high-level domestic competitions, earning university scholarships, and entering sporting and professional careers.
A holistic approach to wellbeing
At CCSC, our progression has also included a deeper commitment to wellbeing and personal development. Our personalised pathways are designed to nurture passion and individualism, recognising that no two student athletes are the same. Our student athletes benefit from a supportive environment designed to prepare them for a happy and successful life after college.
Community support
Our ongoing growth is supported by the generosity of our wider community through our charitable organisation, the CCSC Foundation. Donations help provide scholarships to young people who may be less fortunate, build new facilities, and purchase the latest equipment, ensuring CCSC continues to provide opportunities for future champions here on the Central Coast.
Looking ahead
From our beginnings as the International Football School in Kariong to the leading sports school in regional NSW, our mission remains unchanged: to develop a community of confident and healthy young people through sport, innovative education and real-world opportunities. We strive to build champions in both sport and life, empowering them to embrace challenges and achieve their full potential.
Whether your child dreams of sporting success or simply a supportive environment where their passions are celebrated, CCSC provides the foundations for a bright future.
