Frequently Asked Questions

General Enrolment

1. When will I be notified about my child’s enrolment application?

Due to the high volume of applications being submitted and the limited number of placements available, all applicants are automatically placed on a waitlist.  As soon as a suitable placement becomes available your child will be invited to trial.

Please note, there is no waitlist order. This means that unfortunately our staff will not be able to provide a waitlist number or a timeframe for when a placement will become available. Until a placement becomes available, our staff will communicate via email (at least twice per year) requesting updates for your child’s application (i.e. updated school reports/updated sport information). This information will then be added to your child’s application and they will remain on our waitlist until a placement becomes available.

Please see the answer to question 1 above.

Applicants are only removed from the waitlist if it has been requested by a guardian or if the guardian has not replied to our email communications after one year.

Yes.  All applications rollover unless requested by a guardian or if the guardian has not replied to our email communications after one year.

Unfortunately no.  All applicants are required to complete the enrolment processes described in question 1.  One year prior to enrolment is the ideal time to apply for all year groups.

Whilst we accept applications all year round, applicants will be contacted to trial when a suitable placement becomes available.  See Kindergarten enrolment process and Year 7 enrolment process for important enrolment dates.

Kindergarten Enrolment

1. How long is the Kindergarten day?

9am – 3pm (we have supervision on campus for student athletes from 8am to 4pm)

Up to 1 hour of sport every day. Please read more about K-2 sport.

We have three classes for Kindergarten with 16 student athletes in each class.

Ideally we would encourage families to apply before the Play Program, which begins in February (at least 1 year prior to the year you’re applying for).

You do not need to, however this does help our enrolment team understand the level of participation, interest and involvement your child has in sport.

If you cannot attend the Play Program, please contact Jenny Stafford jstafford@ccsc.nsw.edu.au

We would recommend your child turning 6 years of age in the year of enrolment (for example for Kindergarten 2026, your child will have been born in 2020).

Year 7 Enrolment

1. Does my child need to trial to gain a placement in Year 7?

Yes. Year 7 trials take place in May each year. All trial details are sent to each Year 7 applicant. Please read about the Year 7 enrolment process.

All applicants will receive an email approximately one week after the Year 7 trial day. This email will either invite the applicant in for an interview or inform the applicant that they have been placed on a Year 7 waitlist.

Year 7 placements start being confirmed in June each year and applicants will be emailed with this information. Waitlisted applicants could be offered a second round or even a third round offer any time between June and December. All applicants will remain on the waitlist until a placement becomes available or they can be removed from the waitlist by their guardian any time.  We realise waitlisted applicants may need to organise alternative school arrangements in the meantime and we apologise for the inconvenience.

The interview stage is the final stage of the application process. An enrolment decision will be made in the days following the interview and communicated accordingly to the family.

At CCSC our specialised sport programs include football (soccer), rugby league, tennis, netball, basketball and dance.  Each trialist will get to choose one sport group from this list to participate in at the trial day.  Whilst we realise some student athletes may enjoy many of the sports listed, they are encouraged to choose the sport they feel they will perform the strongest in.

Yes. Two sports is the maximum number of sports a student athlete can specialise in each week and this is called a split program. Student athletes who would like to participate in a split program are still required to trial for each sport and separate trials are required.  Split programs are finalised in the first few weeks of starting at CCSC.

Yes, it may be possible to have an individualised program. An individualised program will need to be agreed to by our sport department.  Please contact our enrolments team at enrolments@ccsc.nsw.edu.au for further information.

The academic assessments on the trial day involve a comprehension task, a maths task and a writing task (less than 30 mins each). The information from these assessments, in conjunction with the child’s most recent school reports, are provided to our advisors so they know how best to assist them if they are going to start at CCSC. There is no pass or fail for these assessments, all we ask is for each child to give their best effort.

College Information

1. How many student athletes currently attend the College?

We have a current enrolment of over 900 student athletes.

Office hours are 8:45am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. With the exception of Kindergarten student athletes who attend school between 9am – 3pm, student athletes in Years 1-12 begin at 9am and finish at 4pm.

Approximately 40% of our current enrolment are female student athletes and approximately 60% are male student athletes.

Our College currently operates with a 1:24 staff to student ratio.

Our specialised sport programs include football, rugby league, tennis, netball, basketball and dance. Read more about our programs on our Student Life Sports page.

All student athletes participate in 1 to 2 hours of sports every day.

Our coaches are fully qualified within our specialised sports programs. The majority of our coaches are full-time employees at the College.  They do not substitute as teachers inside the classroom and our teachers do not substitute as coaches outside of the classroom.  Each teacher or coach is employed to work in their area of expertise.

Our strength and conditioning program is a part of all sports programs. The ‘TeamBuildr’ program enables student athletes to manage their individual needs under the guidance of our fully qualified strength and conditioning coaching staff.

Student athletes have access to our onsite physiotherapist who contracts to the College. Our strength and conditioning coaching staff supervise the student athlete’s rehabilitation during their sport session.

The College does not formally assign homework. Extensive research suggests there is no correlation between academic performance and assigning homework. It is important to note however, that we do support learning at home when necessary, especially when it is led by the student athlete. Student athletes are encouraged to apply themselves to the best of their ability which may require extra preparation and revision outside of normal College hours.

One week each term is dedicated to outdoor education activities and experiences for all student athletes and can feature hikes and overnight camps. The Duke of Edinburgh Award is also included for our Year 9 student athletes. All outdoor education is designed in collaboration with our academic team so that the curriculum is connected.

Leader in Me is a K-12 program that empowers student athletes to make choices to lead and to set an example for others to follow. The program develops every student athlete to be life-ready leaders and to make a difference within their community.
