I would like to thank CCSC for inviting us to participate in the World’s Greatest Shave. It was a very special day for us. It was the sixth anniversary of Michael’s, my husband and Simone’s father, bone marrow transplant. Michael had Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CCL). A donor was found for Michael as his siblings didn’t match. We were told that the transplant worked – he was cancer free. Unfortunately he contracted pneumonia and three different lung infections which his body just couldn’t fight. Michael had to stay in hospital for nine weeks after the transplant and the Leukaemia Foundation gave us money for petrol and food and support to get us through this time. We travelled to St Vincent’s Hospital every day after work to have dinner and to visit him. Unfortunately when we took him into St Vincent’s Hospital with the pneumonia he lived for only two weeks.
Next year if you do the World’s Greatest Shave Simone and I would love to be a part of it again to support the ongoing work of the Leukaemia Foundation.
Thank you,
Lynne Guyatt and Simone Fenton
