8th March #IWD #wordwiderecognitionforwomen
I love the 8th March. Not only is it my birthday but it’s a day when women and girls worldwide celebrate themselves! I feel blessed to share such an awesome day with so many great individuals.
International Women’s Day means different things to different people. There were thousands of events going on across Australia and the world yesterday, all with the common focus of recognising women in society. Whilst there were celebrations and happiness, it’s important to recognise that there are many women and girls less fortunate who face isolation and depravity due to being a girl. This truth is perhaps one of the many complex issues which the world faces today. How do we help those women who suffer gain empowerment and feel true equality? While this perhaps cannot be solved in our lifetime, it is important for us all to be aware of the truths and cultural differences which exist amongst us. Compassion for others is a wonderful trait to have. Here at CCSC we paid homage to International Women’s Day. We kept it simple and recognised all the women who contribute to making our world what it is – mothers, sisters, teachers, friends, grandmothers, sports heroes. I think it’s a day to be positive and recognise all the great women and girls in the world and be thankful for all the great men and boys who acknowledge a woman’s greatness.
